Carmichael explains Haier's strategy to grow the business. Some acquisitions may be considered. To be successful in the export sector, Carmichael advises Malaysian companies to decide what their business model is and identify the markets that suit its model. Products have to be tailored according to the needs of the local community. For example in Pakistan, Haier sells large and low fridges because 20 people typically live in a home and Pakistani women are quite short. He also shares the challenges of working in a Chinese company. And we tested his Mandarin in this interview.
