A working knowledge of English has become a requirement in a number of fields, occupations and professions such as medicine and computing; as a consequence over a billion people speak English to at least a basic level.
There has been plenty of effort to improve the standards of English in the country and no one could honestly argue against the importance of the English language, recently Putrajaya announced that they will be importing teachers from India to help alleviate the shortage of English teachers in Malaysia and to improve proficiency of the language. British Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has introduced The English Language Teacher Development Project to help enhance primary English teachers’ ability to plan and deliver quality English lessons.
