Incinerators – Best Way to Manage Waste?

Malaysia produces 33,000 tones of solid waste per day and it is predicted to increase by 3.5% annually. How should we manage our waste? Some, like Urban, Wellbeing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, say that the building of incinerators to manage solid waste is inevitable. However, others disagree. Residents of areas where incinerators are proposed are protesting the use of the technology. They are calling for 'greener' waste management models as options for the public.

This is a report by Alexandra Lok.
