Multitasking is increasingly seen as a necessary life skill with the demands of modern life. Even though digital technology has increased productivity dramatically, the modern workday seems designed to undermine our ability to focus. On average, we are interrupted about every three minutes at work, and once distracted, it can take as long as 23 minutes for us to pick up where we left off. Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Jason Satel gives us his take on multitasking as well as strategies to cope with life in the fast lane.
