no, this was the new design to cut down wegiht (?).Anyway, I bought it and haven't looked back. However the insulation in the very back panel has a fold that's permanently there, and makes the pack fold in half when I set it down if no major volume inside.

Can someone who owns this pack tell me how it rides over a plate carierr? Im sure it works great since the army is using it. But i have concerns about the waiste strap and chest strap getting in the way of pouches and holsters. Will the waiste pocket get in the way of mag pouches? And anyone carry a pistol on their plate carierr? does the chest strap get in the way of you pistol? Let me know. Thanks
