With the very obvious and serious issue of brain drain and the effort put into Talent Corp, why disenfranchised further those who moved overseas temporarily or permanently to study / research, work, live or carry out business activities?

If this has to do with agreement or dissenting political views, then why carry out polling in the first place? Any democratic process requires debates, consensus, seeking views of the people to hammer out a direction that the people wants. Isn't this a way to seek feedback on why some of these people choose to live abroad, use it as basis of forming policies and seek ways to retain others from moving the same direction when wings sprouts? Voting is much more than just a doodle on a piece of paper every 5 years or so.

If Malaysia claims to be democratic it should allow all Malaysians to vote whether they live overseas or whether they pay tax.
2 myths:
1. Overseas Malaysians are not updated with news in Malaysia thus should not be allowed to vote - Being a residence overseas doesn't mean we are not update with the news in Malaysia. Vice versa being residence in Malaysia doesn't mean one is updated of all the happenings.
2. Only Malaysians paying tax are allowed to vote - Completely foolish, and when they change it to only only Malaysians overseas paying tax in Malaysia are allowed to vote, it's even more foolish! Why should they pay tax in Malaysia when they don't have to, just to be allowed to vote!conversely why would malaysians living in Malaysia not paying tax be allowe dot vote?!
Lastly this is a a basic human right and why is the current government stripping the rights of the people. Are they scared?
