Twitterjaya allows politicians, celebrities and business to engage with their audiences. Some of these public figures have managed to tap into the ethos of the social networking medium, whereas others are simply content to use Twitter as a loudspeaker. We speak to Twitter user Aida Suraya about how she relied on the Twitterjaya community to help with her charities.
We then speak to New media consultant Oon Yeoh and Merdeka Center Programme Director and Social Scientist Ibrahim Suffian on how politicians are trying to gain influence among Twitterjaya users and control the fallout when things do not go as planned
