Recently, the Terengganu branch of the Malaysian Nature Society discovered that part of the Belara Permanent Forest Reserve had been degazetted, and that 2432 hectares was excised back in 2017 for planting oil palm. We discuss the imminent loss of forest area, and the possible repercussions from it.
