Just last month, on Malaysia Day no less, news broke of a horrific poaching case in Johor, where authorities discovered the carcass of a Malayan tiger stuffed in the boot of a car. The animal had suffered injuries from a trap and six gunshot wounds before its death, a brutal reminder of the grave threats facing our national treasure. With fewer than 150 Malayan tigers left in the wild, every loss is devastating.
