A baby elephant was killed in a collision with a container lorry at the Gerik-Jeli highway. Following a devastating viral video of an adult elephant, presumably its mother greiving the death of its calf, local NGOs and the public have called for urgent action to be taken to curb wildlife road accidents. We speak with Professor Ahimsa Campos-Arseiz, founder of the Management and Ecology of Malaysian Elephants and Lim Teck Wyn, honorary associate professor at University of Nottingham Malaysia to discuss the threats faced by elephants in developmental areas and find out how we can better coexist with wild animals.
