From carpet-cleaning chemicals to seasonal winds from Central Asia, the causes of Kawasaki Disease remain a mystery to this day. It is a rare but potentially serious illness that is notoriously tough to diagnose. Recently, the Singapore Medical Council suspended a paediatrician for failing to diagnose the disease, raising concerns that doctors may resort to practicing defensive medicine.
