If you’ve been online, chances are you’ve seen a “Sign Up For Our Newsletter” screen without an obvious “Close” or “No, Thank You” button at least once. That’s the simplest example of dark patterns - a concept used by some UX designers to influence your behavior online by not making “opt out” choices as clear as they should be.
