Why Accuracy In Labour Statistics Is Important

According to economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Malaysian data on labour and foreign workers are inaccurate. Based on telco estimates, there are about 6.7 million foreign workers but based on labour data, there are about 15 million people in Malaysia's labour force, of which only 2.2 million are foreign workers. We speak to Dr Niaz Asadullah about this disparity in numbers and discuss the importance of getting it right.
