Those in support of the European Union breathed a sigh of relief when Emmanuel Macron was voted as the President of France. Had his opponent, populist Marine Le Pen won, the whole European project would have been over. Populism has been making its waves within the EU lately and its presence continues to be felt. What is populism and why are people in support of it? We speak to Matteo to learn about populism and what it means for the future of the EU.
