More than 10 years ago, Zhou Lihan and his professor Too Heng Phon did pioneering research on the potential of microRNA when it was discovered. This is a class of genetic material that changes during disease state, thus offering valuable information in detecting disease early on and in monitoring disease progression.
Unlike DNA mutations, miRNA is stable and makes an ideal biomarker. Zhou and Too founded MiRXES which now has one of the best platforms to study microRNA. Zhou is one of EmTech Singapore's Innovators Under 35.
