After almost a week of political upheaval, the Istana Negara confirmed today that Bersatu President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will be sworn in as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia on 1st March 2020. We spoke to Prof Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmood, Professor of Law at International Islamic University, to understand the legalities of current developments, and how the new government would potentially address the ongoing criminal trials against former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and other UMNO leaders.
