Cheryl Tan is a Singaporean author by way of New York City. Her memoir A Tiger in the Kitchen is a fantastic journey through her life as told through the food and recipes of her childhood. She was a journalist with the Wall Street Journal, she was the senior fashion writer for In Style magazine, and now, she’s got a brand new book out - her first piece of fiction - a novel called Sarong Party Girls.

This week on Afterwords, Uma speaks Cheryl Tan, about the unique Singaporean phenomenon that is Singlish and Sarong Party Girls.

Show Notes:

i. You can find Sarong Party Girls here.

ii. For more of her work, be sure to check out Cheryl's website here. I highly recommend reading her "intergenerational food memoir" - A Tiger in the Kitchen.
