Political Turmoil in Thailand

A far-reaching amnesty bill tabled by the Thailand government last month triggered mass opposition-led demonstrations as it would give former premier Thaksin Shinawatra a clean slate from his corruption charges and pave the way for his return from self-exile. The Yingluck Shinawatra government, headed by Thaksin's youngest sister, has since backed down from the bill, and called for snap elections next February after the mass resignations of all opposition lawmakers in an attempt to curb the political turmoil. Where does Thailand go from here? We speak to political scientist Dr. Joel Moore to find out.
