On February 7th 2015, The New York Times ran an expose about the influx of global cash that was fuelling New York City’s high-end real estate boom. The piece, called Towers of Secrecy, received a lot of traction here in Malaysia. For one simple reason. The second part of the Times’ investigation was entitled The Mysterious Malaysian Financier. Today, on The Evening Edition, we speak to Louise Story, the co-writer of the investigative piece in an attempt to get a behind the scenes look at how a story like this comes together. We speak about the article in the American context. And we find out just how Malaysia is implicated in all of this chicanery.
