China's Encroaching Interests in Myanmar

For years, mainland Chinese have been entering Myanmar to settle there, work, do business and marry locals. Is there a risk of China encroaching into the sovereignty of Myanmar? Nicholas Farrelly addresses this thorny question that most choose to ignore. He is a Fellow of the Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, and Director of ANU-IU Pan Asia Institute of the Australian National University (ANU) College of Asia and the Pacific. We met at the ISEAS seminar on "The Evolution of Myanmar's China Gambit" in Singapore.
