Julian Tan was taunted and verbally abused in high school for being overweight and not conforming to the profile of a "cool" student. 10 years later, Tan writes about this traumatic period in an article on the Huffington Post titled "Refuse to be bullied into mediocrity," which relates how he depended on his family, friends and a Herculean work ethic to get into first Oxford University and then Cambridge University.
