Last October, Brunei Darussalam gazetted the Sharia Penal Code Order to introduce hudud and qisas punishments. The new code, which will be implemented in stages beginning this April, includes stoning to death for adulterers, severing of limbs for theft and flogging for violations ranging from abortion to consumption of alcohol. How would it be implemented and is there a place for hudud in Malaysia? Azmi Sharom gives us his take.
