Cambridge University will be commemorating the late Tun Mohammad Suffian Hashim (passed away in 2000) with a lectureship in his name. This honour is in commemoration of one of Malaysia's greatest judicial figures, who was associated with the drafting of the Constitution of Malaysia, was Chief Justice of Malaya and later, Lord President of the Federal Court from 1974 to 1982. He had study law at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts with Honours in 1939 and Bachelor of Laws in 1940.
The Tun Suffian College Lectureship will bear his name in perpetuity - a lasting recognition to one of the most distinguished Caius of the twentieth century. And we’re honoured to have with us none other than renowned molecular biologist and Master of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge himself - Sir Alan Fersht.
