"The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that Iran is not developing a nuclear bomb. US intelligence advisors have also told President Trump that. So this threat that Netanyahu keeps referring to, that Iran is so close to building a nuclear bomb, he's been saying this for decades. That is a very old and tired trick that Israel has used," Dr Shahram Akbarzadeh of Deakin University told BFM.
“If Israel cared about stopping a nuclear weapon, they would go back into a nuclear deal that prevents Iran from a weapon. And guess who they killed? Ali Shamkhani, (Iran's) lead nuclear negotiator,” broadcast journalist Mehdi Hasan said on Piers Morgan Uncensored this week.
Israel launched its largest ever attack on Iran on June 13, claiming Iran was making rapid progress in developing nuclear weapons.
Israel has killed at least 639 so far including senior military figures, nuclear scientists, and civilians, and wounded thousands others a week into its attack on Iran. Iran has launched over 400 missiles in retaliation.
