A 38-year-old unemployed woman was sentenced to 2 months in prison by the Magistrate's Court on April 21 after pleading guilty to stealing from a supermarket in Brickfields.
The woman, who has a 6-month-old child and is supporting an elderly ailing father, was caught stealing 30 items worth RM374.69, including bread, eggs, personal care products, and tissues.
The High Court later reduced her sentence to 6 days, acknowledging that she had committed the act out of desperation.
