“The estate workers are now senior citizens. They are dying one after another. I just want them to spend at least one day in the permanent house promised to them.”
In 1982, a group of estate workers were relocated from Bukit Kiara to temporary wooden homes in TTDI to make way for development.
They were promised permanent brick houses within a few years.
But years became decades. Countless protests and negotiations were held to hold the government accountable for the promise it made in 1982.
43 years on, the promise remains unfulfilled.
