Mental health is inseparable from overall health and quality of life. However, the statistics on mental health problems are alarming: the World Health Organisation reported that one in four people would be affected by mental health problems in their lifetime. In Malaysia, one in three adults were affected by mental health problems in 2015. In this month’s Public Health series, we discuss what policies have to be in place to ensure adequate support and for those affected by mental health problems.
