The Health Agenda Under Malaysia Madani #4: Health Financing Needs Urgent Reforms

We are approaching the one-year anniversary since Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia on 24th November last year, and we’re taking a look at the different issues in health and healthcare that the Prime Minister and the government can prioritise in the next year. Healthcare financing has surfaced time and again under several administrations, but will Dato’ Seri Anwar’s government be the one to finally introduce much-needed reforms to ensure the provision of sustainable and equitable health services, amid rising healthcare costs? Dr Murallitharan Munisamy, Co-Chairperson of NCD Malaysia shares his thoughts on some hard truths that the government needs to consider.
