Asia has been growing at an incredibly fast pace for more than a decade and national economies are competing aggressively to attract foreign investment that will boost internal consumption and consequently, regional trade. The geography of the region is such that the maritime industry currently plays and will continue to play a most critical role in facilitating trade by moving commodities, goods and people. This is made more crucial with the setup of the ASEAN Economic Community. What are the issues and how can innovation bring solutions?
