Our laws say that Malaysian women have the right to end an early pregnancy if it causes serious physical or mental harm. Yet access to abortion pills, the only safe and effective non surgical option available, is restricted in the country. Women either face the stigma and discomfort of a surgical abortion, or turn to the online black market for counterfeit pills. We speak to Dr. Choong SP, co-chair of Reproductive Rights Advocacy Alliance Malaysia (RRAAM), about the facts surrounding this dilemma.
