An Addiction and a Necessity: Can you live without the internet?

According to the Internet World Statistics, Malaysia is among the top 10 internet countries representing 1.6% of internet users in Asia, with 60.7% internet penetration rate as of 2012. And the number is rising. From smartphones to laptops, we are in a society where it is a norm to live surrounded by technology. However, this technological revolution may be doing more harm than good. Internet addiction, cyber bullying, even nomophobia -the fear of being without a mobile device, are up-and-rising trends which were non-existent just ten years ago.
