August 6, 2023 was the 78th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. We mark the seminal, tragic moment in history by speaking with Aaron Denison, a doctoral candidate at Hiroshima University, who specialises in Malaysian and Japanese politics with a special interest in Malaysian victims of the bombing. He speaks to us about how Japan commemorates this event and how the country's history impacts conversations around nuclear disarmament. He also shares his own research into the three Malaysians who were in Hiroshima during the blast.
