Notwithstanding the recent deferment of the planned foreign worker levy hike, we look at the thinking behind the initiative as well as the push-back on the move by stake-holders in the industry. Whether it will be an effective push to wean off industry dependence on foreign labour remains a question. Today we ask if the government’s move is justified?
