Unity is something us Malaysians talk about a lot, but what do we really mean by it? As a multicultural society, all of us have our own little quirks and eccentricities. For many, to be unified is to be able to look past these little idiosyncrasies, to be colourblind. But the founders of The Rojak Projek believe otherwise; instead of trying to see past our differences, they argue that we need to celebrate and embrace them. Part online art project, part social enterprise, The Rojak Projek encourages us to celebrate our diversity through their online ‘food portraits’ and monthly offline rojak parties.
