Far From Home 5: Migrants and Poetry Part 1

We always speak of the immigrants in Malaysia as 'the other'. In actual fact, the 6 million of them who have made Malaysia their home for years are just like us; they have dreams, stories and fears. Over the next 7 weeks, we'll be bringing their stories on air, disengaging you from the common migrant narrative and instead, giving them something they often get deprived of: a voice. In today's episode, Rahmah Pauzi speaks to the winner of the Migrant Worker Poetry Competition, held as part of the Cooler Lumpur festival. We learn about why they come here, why they left home, and their love for poetry. This is part one of Migrants and Poetry.
