The sequence of events around Mentega Terbang has been increasingly building up: Jakim released a statement that the movie went against Islamic creed, the streaming platform removed it, police reports have been lodged, and now the police are investigating the filmmakers. Following this, several civil society groups, creative organisations and individuals have signed a statement urging the government to stop the witch hunt surrounding this movie. We discuss.
