Infinite Jest: Satire and Comics in Context

The recent attacks in Paris have unceremoniously thrust satire and cartooning into our mainstream discourse. But how much do we really know about the art form? Today, on The Evening Edition, Umapagan Ampikaipakan and Ezra Zaid spoke to Laurence Grove, a professor of French and Text/Image Studies and the Director of the Stirling Maxwell Centre for the Study of Text/Image Cultures at the University of Glasgow. They asked the good professor about the culture of cartooning and historical roots of the magazine Charlie Hebdo. And explored why the French tradition is so dramatically different from satire in other parts of "the West".
