The #ChallengeAccepted trend went viral on social media over the last few weeks, encouraging women to post black-and-white selfies supporting female empowerment. While some have dismissed it as slacktivism, others defended the well-meaning challenge. We discuss the origins of this online challenge, focusing on why Turkish women are using it to bring awareness to the issue of femicide in their country.
