Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the government is planning allow the use of EPF savings as collateral for emergency loans. First, we discuss whether this is a good move, and a helpful one, as well as what the side effects of it might be. And then, we look at both the politicisation of the EPF, as well as the mindset that it’s not necessarily only for retirement.
