Many Malaysians didn’t know of Sybil Kathigasu, until last September 3rd, when Google put up a doodle to commemorate what would have been her 117th birthday. It was only then were we acquainted with the story of a nurse from Papan, Perak, who risked everything to help the Malayan resistance during the Japanese occupation of Malaya. We speak to film director Bernard Chauly, who directed an 8 part miniseries, about Sybil's extraordinary life and the role she played during one of Malaysia's most turbulent periods in history.
