New psychoactive substances (NPS) have been giving the Malaysian authorities a headache. The problem comes with legislation. It can't be banned because legally it's used for medical and industrial purposes. However, it's been misused to make new drugs that mimic the effects of traditional and synthetic drugs. So, what can the authorities do and what are they doing? Dr. Vicknasingam, Director of Centre for Drug Research, tells us more about the NPS and what we can do about it.
