Ransomware is a type of malware that restricts usage of a device it infects, be it a computer or smartphone, demanding payment from the end-user in order to regain control over the device. Until recently, ransomware has been targeting computers, but they are now attacking mobile phones, which has grown to be an integral part of our lives. Imagine not being able to make that emergency call when you’re stuck somewhere with your own personal mobile phone unless you transfer a sum of cash. That’s ransomware in today’s world. We speak to Eric Chan, Solution Consulting Director for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong at Fortinet on what strategies can you adopt to mitigate the risks for your company and employees.
